About the Artist
Deborah Dubina
Hanover, Connecticut is my home. I have lived in New England all my life. I inherited a passion for antiques and early American primitives from my father twenty-eighty years ago.
Primitive rug hooking changed my life when I discovered I could express my love of the past through re-created fragments of that life in hooked rugs. I started designing my own rugs in time, and later, dying my own wool. Now I had more options to personalize my rugs, allowing me to fully express my vision of the past with warm, rich and earthy tones of my own choosing. I have expanded my hooking in the last few years to designing for different companies.
Early American Life Magazine sponsors a juried directory of the "Top 200 Traditional Craftsmen in America". I am pleased to have been selected to be included in that directory these past three years.
My goal is to offer my work to others as inspiration to keep the best of the values and memories of the past alive in the present. I hope this is what my work communicates to you also.
